Aashma is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and nonindustrial in nature.

  • These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • The worldlets require extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation, including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Iiradu Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector in the Domain of Vland.
  • This world has an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.
  • During the Long Night this world was named Ashba Giga.

History & Background (Dossier)

A small moon-sized asteroid, Aashma is a bureaucratic outpost of Arna though the two could not be more dissimilar. The Ashamae are extremely efficient, hard working, and officious in the extreme. This latter is partly to ensure they extract the maximum amount in port taxes from the traffic along the X-boat link, but mostly because they are underpaid and trapped on an airless rock with nothing better to do.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility

Aashma, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.

Local Sports

The Aashamae are sports mad. The only chance they get to relax is watching and gambling on sports. The huge domes for low gravity sport events dotted all around the spaceport are testimony to this. The regulations are tight and the officious and logical minded Aashamae spend hours calculating new odds strategies.

Illicit Substances

There is a constant smuggling effort to import Seaweed from the neighboring Arna where it is legal. The locals have tried to get the drug legalized, but disapproval from the Imperial starport and IISS authorities have prevented it. Punishment for smuggling or resale are fines is steep enough to put most smugglers out of business. This constant demand has resulted in customs officials resorting to ship-wide searches (...with corresponding delays to shipping).
