Villane is a non-agricultural and nonindustrial vacuum world, which warrants hazardous environment precautions.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
  • It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • It has few prospects for economic development.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the The Borderland Subsector of Trojan Reach Sector.

Non-canon: Tiny Villane is the main connector world for Towne to the rest of charted space.

  • In antebellum times, several private calibration points were maintained by local crews that permitted crossing of the Rift back into other regions of Borderland subsector.
  • It continues that role today.
  • Villane is a popular stopover for offworld crews.
  • Unlike Gikarlum, the Villaneans have much need for entertainment, and the local startown is the dictionary picture definition of the word "dive."

While Browne lost a great deal of population to Abandonment, Villane has gained a good deal.

  • The local arcologies are fully underground and self contained.
  • The Regency reinforced the defenses with several deep meson gun mounts, and the populace prefers being safely entombed in their deep homes to the uncertainty of starting over in the Regency or the Hierate.
