The name applied to a largely obscure insectoid predator from Winston.

Physiology & Ecology

The creature named Yphitz by the Darrians is only known about because a Sword Worlder combat helmet was found from a lost patrol, still recording. A 2-metre-high mantis-like insectoid was clearly obvious in the image recorder. Why the soldier approached it without alarm is unknown. The best ideas put forward were pheromones or sub-audio frequencies somehow preventing the victim from being aware of the threat.

Diet & Trophics

As Winstonian life is generally biologically intolerable to humans (and vice versa), the incident may have been an unintentional lure. It isn't clear that this species would make a habit of eating humans.

The species presumably lives in the deep jungles.

This species has not been encountered often enough for any evaluation to be made, though it is clearly potentially dangerous.
