Ventura Subsector (2019)[edit]

Two Ventura Subsector exist as well:

  1. Beyond
  2. Theta Borealis

My guess is that when the original Theta Borealis material from Group-One had been de-canonized, there were still references in the Paranoia Press Library Data material to things originating in the Ventura, Phoenix, and Corelian Quadrants; hence, they got "bumped" over to the Sunbane (et al) versions of The Beyond and Vanguard Reaches.

Quadrant (2025)[edit]

Perhaps one way to do "homage" to the original (and erroneous) usage of the term "Quadrant" for the original subsector names is to assume that the original/initial cartographers for the sector were not dividing it using the standard subsector-division model for some reason, but were in fact surveying the region in a broader and yet more restrictive localized fashion by focusing on 4-subsector "Quadrants" as their basic mapping region. In the original Group One material, it seems that the Corelian, Ventura, and Phoenix Quadrants were the "major" regions (i.e. Subsectors), so perhaps 3 "Old" 4-subsector "Quadrant" Regions could be noted as part of the region's history? (Note that these Quadrants need not necessarily correspond to the 4 Corners-of-the-Sector-Quadrants in modern Imperial Mapping: Alpha/Beta/Gamma/Delta - (although they could) - any group of 4 could be defined as a Quadrant).
Note that (mysteriously) Corelia is not in Corelian Subsector, but in Evalren Subsector (so they would likely go together in a Quadrant), and Phonecia is not in Phoenix Subsector, but Duhamel Subsector, so they would likewise probably be associated. < Ventura/(Theta Borealis) > would seem to be a natural fit for another Quadrant, since Ventura was an original important Quadrant and Theta Borealis is the namesake of the Sector (and Corelian, Ventura, and Phoenix all played prominently in the original material's literature). I would suggest Borealis Kantel as a potential fourth Quadrant based on its name (or possibly as a subsector to combine with Ventura/Theta Borealis in a Quadrant).
- Perhaps due to the stellar sparsity of Sibigil Subsector and parts of Phoenix Subsector, and due to the "Enigma" of Monway Subsector and Banderhue Subsector, those two Subsectors were left initially unmapped, and the initial Quadrant was Phoenix (Subsectors G, H, K, L), and later Ventura Quadrant was established and overlapping (either "Delta Quadrant" - Subsectors K, L, O, P -OR- Subsectors J, K, N, O -OR- Subsectors K, N, O, P).
  • (Is the "Enigma" in the Void Space of Beta Quadrant)?

- Or perhaps because of the Percavid Marches and Korsumug Empire, Anguilla and Persiphus Subsectors were excluded from the initial Survey, and Ventura Quadrant is Subsectors K, M, N, O and Phoenix Quadrant is Subsectors G, H, L, P.

  • Corelian (Alpha) Quadrant (includes Corelian and Evalren Subsectors) - Subsectors A, B, E, F - Alpha Quadrant
  • Phoenix Quadrant (includes Phoenix and Duhamel Subsectors)
- Possibilities:
- 1) Subsectors G, H, K, L - Straddles Beta/Delta Quadrant
- 2) Subsectors G, H, L, P
  • Ventura Quadrant (includes Ventura (Theta Borealis) Subsector)
- Possibilities:
- 1) Subsectors K, L, O, P
- 2) Subsectors J, K, N, O
- 3) Subsectors K, N, O, P
- 4) Subsectors K, M, N, O
  • Possible: Borealis Kantel Quadrant
- Possibilities:
- 1) Subsectors I, J, M, N - Gamma Quadrant
- 2) NOT an independent Quadrant - Borealis Kantel is part of Ventura Quadrant (with Theta Borealis Subsector).

Perhaps in later days Quadrants were unofficially and randomly called by the name of their old contained subsectors as a manner of quick reference (i.e. Evalren Subsector was in Corelian Quadrant - when speaking about the Quadrant in reference to Evalren one might say "Evalren Quadrant", even though the original Quadrant name was Corelian).
Just some random thoughts and musings. Feel free to use as you will, or not.
