Kugashin? (2010)[edit]

The drawing looks very much like a Kugashin-class laboratory ship, as depicted in the main GURPS Traveller book, and the description is very similar to that for the Kugashin in the GURPS Traveller: Starships book.

According to Classic Traveller Double Adventure 3, the ship is the Lavalier class (its class name given with its High Guard statistics). It's possible the people at Steve Jackson Games were unaware of its name and renamed it for GURPS Traveller.

Would it also be possible for the Kugashin to be a later-TL version? The GURPS Traveller version is TTL C/D, while the infobox lists the Lavalier class as TTL B (I upped it from 9 since it's J-2). Just trying to figure out a way to put together two canonical sources...

That's very possible, considering the lab ship is a standard hull configuration, and it is a very old design, it makes sense it would be updated in this way.

OK, I'll work on putting in the Kugashin version as an upgrade - it has a number of other statistical upgrades, now that I look at it more closely (more cargo, low berth, already has 1 turret, etc).
