Thomas, AG is a business term, AB is too, but in this case, I think they mean it as a company name.

• In business German, it means a company-customer relationship with other complex connotations.
• Look up Gesellschaft in English, it will help you to form a feel for the term.
• In this article, I think they mean it as a proper name of a corporation.
• I am open to other interpretations.
