The Army COACC Air Squadron (AIRRON) is the basic building block of COACC units, and is comprised of a collection of Flights.

Air Squadron (AIRRON)[edit]
The Air Squadron (AIRRON) is the basic building block of COACC units. It is a unit made up of 3 to 4 Flights of the same aircraft type, plus specialist support and transport aircraft and service and support ground units. The Air Squadron is considered to be the equivalent of an Army Ground Force Cavalry Squadron / Regiment or Infantry Battalion.
- The appointment rank of Squadron Leader for a Flying Squadron is usually a COACC Officer of the rank of Wing Leader (O5) (or "Wing Commander") or occasionally a Squadron Leader (O4) and is equivalent to an Army (GFC) Lieutenant-Colonel or Major.
- The appointment rank of Squadron Leader for a Ground Squadron is usually a COACC Officer of the rank of Squadron Leader (O4) and is equivalent to an Army (GFC) Major.
Flight[edit]
A Flight is an Air Squadron sub-unit usually comprised of 2 to 5 aircraft and their service and support ground units, nominally commanded by a COACC Officer of the rank of Squadron Leader (O4) or Flight Leader / Flight Lieutenant (O3).
