Sigma 7 (Co 0407) is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and both non-agricultural and preindustrial in nature.

  • These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • The worldlets are, for the most part, unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • These worldlets are working towards being an industrial world but lack an adequate workforce to do so.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Khouth Subsector of Corridor Sector in the Domain of Vland.
  • During the Long Night this world was named Garmi.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

This world's name often begged the question from belters across Corridor: "Where are the previous 6 Sigmas?"

  • In actuality the belt is named for the space capsule of one of the first Terran astronauts, Walter M. Schirra.
  • The belt was discovered by another Walter G. Schirra, who did homage to his namesake.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Officially included in the Imperium as part of the County of Mikesh in 5, the belt was ignored and inhabited by none but the occasional rock hopper for many centuries. It is a poor belt (in mineral terms) with the only real income being from sale of unrefined fuel. Its peak population was in 761 when a gold strike was made and the population reached about 11,000. There was no repeat and the original find was mined out in a year.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]

Sigma 7 (Co 0407), as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of two members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

History-Era: New Era[edit]

This low tech belt colony was wiped out by Virus, most of the population being unable to evacuate due to a lack of local passenger carriage.
