The Sentry Leopard class 3T Grav Tank was designed and manufactured at TL–11, these vehicles were license built at Alepus (world), along the Distant Fringe. They serve in the Peoples' Liberation Army. The vehicle has a crew of three: driver, gunner and commander. These probably date from models used during the Scybrian Wars.
Description / Specifications[edit]
Sentry Leopard class 3T Grav Tank, TL 11: The vehicle's crystaliron armor sheaths the chassis to levels of protection equivalent or superior to starship hull metal. This design is sealed with life support for the crew in vacuum and protected forces roles. It features heavier frontal armor on the radically sloped chassis front, proof against most current light weapon systems. Traditionally deployed in companies of twelve tanks with 36 crew, support units are concentrated at higher levels. One of the fundamental trade offs in the design was the decision to put a 15.2MW off the shelf, stock plasma gun into a stabilized turret on the vehicle's deck with TL–11 direct fire control. Modern analysts insist that this is not sufficient versus other modern Grav Tanks. A standard 40 MW fusion power plant is installed, which can share stock parts with a wide variety of military vehicles across the Distant Fringe. Almost no expense was spared for this design. For greater self defense and to partially compensate for their lighter armor, a VRF Gauss Gun is installed with expensive TL–11 point defense fire control. This weapon will also shred any infantry that gets too close as well. Finally, a magazine fed TAC missile launcher was installed in the turret to provide some small hope of defeating heavier armored vehicles. Originally intended as an APC which explained the lighter plasma gun and armor, the excess room is filled with abundant fuel which, when combined with its above average speed, gives this tank excellent range when compared with several contemporaries. They have a Swiss army knife approach to secondary weaponry. These crews are trained from birth to be capable of Protected Forces operations due to the nature of their planet's surface.
Chassis:[edit]
- Height: 2m (+1m turret); Width: 3m; Length: 7m.
- Total usable volume: 42m³
- Total mass loaded: 143.962204 metric tons
- Hull Material: Crystaliron
- Armor: Chassis and turret front, 45; turret and chassis sides, turret and chassis rear, belly and deck 40.
- Target Size DMs: +2 low, +1 high hits
- Production Cost: Cr4,221,904.464
Movement:[edit]
The Grav Tank has two modes, weapons ON and weapons OFF. With weapons ON there are 0.7 maneuver Gs. With weapons OFF there are 1.77 maneuver Gs.
- With weapons ON the maximum speed is 825kph/687cm, cruise speed is 619kph/515cm; NOP 150kph/125cm.
- With weapons OFF maximum speed is 1,926kph/1,605cm, cruise speed is 1,445kph/1,204cm; NOP 150kph/125cm.
- NOP flight is limited by available TL–11 avionics, and not the 400 tons of thrust.
Movement effect on fire: None
Weapons:[edit]
Full weapons stabilization.
Turret Mounted Plasma B Gun[edit]
The fully stabilized turret (1mx2.8mx3m) mounted on the chassis deck has a plasma gun B installed. This is an off the shelf standardized energy weapon in common use. It has an 15.2 MW input and is fitted with TL–11 direct fire control. The weapon has some burst radius in addition to impact penetration for greater area effect against adjacent targets at short and medium ranges. It can engage a single target per firing phase and is automatically spotted when it fires.
| Effective Range | Long Range | Extreme Range |
| 1.94km (54)/30m(38) | 3.88km (42)/20m(26) | 7.76km (15)/10m(1) |
Coaxial Mounted Point Defense System[edit]
The dorsal turret mounts a VRF Gauss Gun with TL–11 point defense fire control. It rolls 8d6 versus indirect fire missions. It has the following direct fire characteristics:
| Effective Range | Long Range | Extreme Range |
| 1.5 km (21)+8 | 3 km (19)+6 | 4.5 km (17)+3 |
The main VRF Gauss Gun has storage for 30,000 rounds, enough to allow 23 fire phases of sustained fire. It can engage 16 targets in 15 seconds and has a +4 signature.
Commander's Remote Cupolas Laser Rifle[edit]
A Laser Rifle is mounted in a stabilized remote cupolas on the top of the turret above the commander's hatch. It can be used to designate targets for the TAC missiles. It has a 100-shot battery. The direct fire characteristics are:
| Effective Range | Long Range | Extreme Range |
| 180m (9) | 360m (4) | 1.8 km (1) |
Gunner's Remote Cupolas 4cm RAM Automatic Grenade Launcher[edit]
A 4cm RAM Auto Grenade Launcher TL–11 is also mounted over the gunner's hatch on top of the turret.
| Effective Range | Long Range | Extreme Range |
| 370 m (36)+4 | 750 m (36)+3 | 1500 m (36)+2 |
The 4cm RAM automatic grenade launcher with 1,600 HEAP grenades for 20 fire phases, it has a +2 signature when it fires and can engage 2 targets.
Hunter-Killer brand TAC Missiles[edit]
There is a 49kg capacity, magazine fed TAC missile launch tube in the front of the turret. These HK missiles use a 6kg 20cm HEAP 55 warhead wedded to a variety of guidance packages. It takes a single crew member to manually reload these missiles internally if additional rounds are available. The homing missiles struggle to achieve intercepts against vehicles protected with advanced ECM abilities. The RADAR has been upgraded to beyond the missile's range which allows long range engagement without a dependence on sensor relays and spotters. The teleguided and operator guided missiles are subject to radio jammers. No HE warheads are typically available for anti-aircraft work. Several guidance packages have long range and hyper velocity interceptor options available. The teleguided package is the heaviest and most expensive, but it is the best for hunting grav sleds fond of pop ups. The launcher's magazine is delivered loaded with a variety of missiles described in the table below and included in the purchase price.
| Type | Range | Price |
| (4)Homing HEAP 55 | 34km or 24km with +10 DM | Cr378 |
| (4)Target Designated HEAP 55 | 34km or 24km with +10 DM | Cr670.4 |
| (4)IR Follow Up HEAP +8 | 34km or 24km with +10 DM | Cr470.4 |
| (4)Operator Guided +3 DM with radio command links HEAP 55 | 25km +5 Hyper Velocity DM | Cr277 |
| (4)Teleguided with radio command links HEAP 55 | 18km +4 Hyper Velocity DM | Cr1,776 |
Power / Equipment:[edit]
