A Pyramid is a traditional construction form for developing cultures; considered to be the simplest form of large scale architecture because of its load-bearing strength and ease of assembly.

  • A Ziggurat is a related kind of structure.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

A pyramid is an architectural structure whose outer surfaces are triangular and converge to a single point at the top, making the shape analogous to a geometric pyramid. Pyramid bases can be trilateral, quadrilateral, or any polygon shape.

Square pyramids, with a square base and four triangular outer surfaces, are among the most commonly encountered pyramids in Charted Space.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The masonry techniques required to build a pyramid are first developed at TL–1. Pyramids have been constructed on most worlds where the local culture has passed through TL-1. Many examples remain due to the massive strength of the structure.

Some believe that the Pyramids were elaborate tombs for the rulers of an ancient Earth culture. Others believe that pyramid structures of all sizes serve as focuses for psionic, or cosmic power, and are claimed to sharpen dulled edges, cure diseases, and generally work miracles. Even others believe that the Terran Pyramids were giant pressure cooker ovens.
