Description (Biography)[edit]
I started playing Traveller in the early 1980s when it was introduced to me by co-workers at Astroworld, a long gone but beloved amusement park in Houston, Texas. Uncomfortable with the way the referee was making it too much like 'Paranoid', I started running games with background flavors from all the fantasy and science-fiction that I had read or watched as a teen.
Shortly after those fun times with the Little Black Books, I went into the Air Force where I was stationed in Okinawa with a LOT of Marines. 'Snapshot' was very popular with that crowd, as well as table-top games like 'Fifth Frontier War' and survival adventures like 'Marooned'.
After my military service, I got into technology. The games started taking on a lot of cyber-warefare, robotics, and general gearheadedness... until I had kids. Two wonderful daughters came along that eventually learned the game. They brought many of their friends over and it was like Traveller got a second breath of life with me.
But the nature of the game had to change since little girls are unquestionably the most bloodthirsty players that have ever rolled the dice. Seriously, they made the Marines seem calm by comparison. They are grown and gone now and most of my Traveller goals now are spent keeping the fond memories and wishing Marc Miller would let me write a book on some of those adventures.
