Ekha (world)/secret
'Imperiallines' is the codeword employed by the Office of Personal Transportation, the Emperor's personal intelligence service, for the Emperor's own secret courier network. Although the cover companies that make up the Imperiallines network engage in real trade, their primary purpose is to provide a covert transport and courier system for the Imperial government. Imperiallines companies all use ships with the same specifications: 2000 dT jump-2 capable freighters. The ships differ in superficial details from company to company, but this is purely cosmetic and it's very easy to turn one design into another. Each company also secretly employs a version of their ship design which is capable of Jump-6. The short-legged ships handle the cargo hauling; the fast ships do the actual courier work.
Ekha serves multiple important functions for Imperiallines. Primarily, it is the primary training center for all Imperiallines personnel. It is also a long-term recovery and rehabilitation center for Imperiallines personnel wounded in the line of duty. Medical facilities are second to none at TL Imperial Maximum. In addition, the location is the central issuance site for all cover identities. All personnel operating under cover receive their cover training and testing on Ekha. Further, should a cover identity be discovered, or "burned," then the affected employee returns for rest and reconstitution of a new cover (and usually a new assignment). Lastly, the world maintains a superior TL Imperial Maximum class A starport and shipyard - underground. The facility builds, maintains, rebuilds, and alters as needed the Type TI Class Merchant and Type TJ Class Merchant fleet, with a focus on the Type TJ as the Type TI can be built and maintained through commercial contracts. It is limited to 2500 ton vessels and below that can land on worlds with an atmosphere. So, the population exceeds the listed / mandated 10,000. But since access to the world is controlled by Imperiallines the actual population remains a secret. It fluctuates as personnel arrive to attend training classes, undergo medical treatment or rehabilitation, receive or update their cover identities, bring in or take out a Type TI / TJ, and, thence, depart for a new assignment.
Hushed rumors within Imperiallines hold that members of the Imperial family, including the Emperor himself have used the Type TJ Class Merchant fleet to visit and relax on Ekha.
The court case between the IISS and Imperiallines will never be resolved so as to maintain the Amber Zone status of the system for the benefit of Imperiallines.
