Destiabr Rift
The Destiabr Rift is an astrographic feature lying close to the central-coreward edge of Chiep Zhez Sector.
- It is a rift area of low stellar density.
- It is a barrier to expansion and interstellar commerce.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Destiabr Rift is an area of lower stellar density lying close to the central-coreward edge of the sector.
- The region measures around 7 parsecs spinward-trailing and is on average around 7 parsecs coreward-rimward, although many sections are narrower.
- It forms a natural obstacle to coreward expansion.
A basic map showing the Destiabr Rift is shown, right:
The highest tech level commonly encountered out this Far Along (spinward of the Third Imperium) is TL–12, though a few worlds may be more advanced.
- This level of technology allows the routine use of up to Jump-3 drives.
- Locally, areas that cannot be routinely crossed by Jump-3-capable vessels are denoted as rift regions.
Destiabr Nebula[edit]
The center of the Rift is dominated by the Destiabr Nebula, a huge planetary nebula centered on the Destiabr system.
- It's enormous cloud of gas and dust is more than 12 light years in diameter.
- Two tiny white dwarf stellar remnants lie at its center.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Destiabr Rift is a major obstacle to trade and commerce, which largely depends on Jump-2 vessels.
- The Rift cannot be routinely crossed by most types of vessels.
- It has served as a natural barrier to expansion to coreward.
It is considered to be part of the greater complex of rifts and voids that make up the Idella Rift.
Historical Data[edit]
The Rift was originally charted during the 300s.
