Edge_Subsector/Daibei Sector
Subsector Notes[edit]
Edge Subsector: Since its original settlement by the Ziru Sirka over 2700 years ago, Edge Subsector has been dominated by the technologically-advanced high-population world of Warinir (Db 0507). When news of the collapse of the central authority of the Rule of Man reached this area in early 2743, Warinir immediately declared its independence and announced the creation of the Grand Republic of Warinir. Some other old Vilani worlds in this subsector and adjacent Alun Subsector joined in the Grand Republic, but others preferred to remain loyal to the Rule of Man or to go their own way in independence. Warinir's invasion of Jurin to forcibly incorporate it into the Grand Republic was the beginning of the Twilight Wars, which raged through Edge and adjoining subsectors for over 400 years, until they were ended in the War of Reconciliation, in which the Imperial Realm of Daibei and its allies were victorious. Warinir was forced to relinquish its Grand Republic and retreat to only a single world, but it has remained a dominant force in the politics and economics of the region.
Reavers: It is difficult if not impossible for any Reaver force using Jump-2 ships to get into this region, as the worlds of Jurin, Imili, Nyanar, Warinir and Woomera have made common cause (see Grumith Coalition) to maintain a Naval Base and anti-Reaver interdiction fleet at Grumith. The only real chance that such a Reaver force would have would be to jump into Grumith system and then jump quickly out again, hoping not to be detected or engaged by the forces there. The other possibilities are for the Reavers to be disguised as a legitimate merchant fleet, or to have Jump-3 ships and completely bypass the defensive chokepoint of Grumith. Each of these strategies have been tried at some time in the past, with varying degrees of success.
Colonization: All of the worlds of this subsector were colonized by the Ziru Sirka toward the end of its expansive phase, between 500 and 1000 AD
Population: Edge Subsector was originally settled by the Vilani of the Ziru Sirka, but has never been heavily populated. The only world that qualifies as high-population is Warinir (Db 0507) with a population of 6 Billion.
The highest Technology Level in the subsector is 12, at Warinir (Db 0507).
