Delphi Union, Naval Base
Delphi was colonized eary in the Rule of Man, primarily from Terra and older Terran colonies. Its system is well-developed, with mining and resource-gathering bases on several planets. It has suffered its share of Reaver attacks, but its strong Navy and underwater cities have made it a difficult target. In 3112, Delphi made an alliance with Ashima, and in the past 650 years this has grown into the Delphi Union, a small but strong interstellar state. Delphi and Ashima are the controlling partners in the Union, while Lopadusa, Petod, Hajaar, and Iulii are operated as colony worlds controlled by the Union government. Nexus joined the Union in 3716, with an unusual status as a semi-independent government, but without any vote in the Union Council.
Conditions/Environment[edit]
With a 100% hydrosphere, the closest that Delphi has to landforms are some shallow areas that are exposed at low tide, then covered again at high tide. The undersea geography of the planet is such at there are continental masses where the ocean can get quite shallow, with deep trenches in between that have never been explored or measured.
The Standard climate means that both north and south poles are ice-capped, but most of the oceans are clear of ice and the equatorial zone is quite warm.
Starport and Transport Infrastructure[edit]
By far the largest portion of the Class A starport is at Delphi Highport, which is actually composed of several stations in orbits that keep them near each other. Delphi Downport is built on thick pillars in a shallow portion of the ocean on one of the continental masses, and serves primarily as a transition point for goods moving to and from the planet itself, as there is little reason for trans-shipping goods to ever be brought down. Both refined and unrefined fuel are available at the Downport, but only refined fuel is sold at the Highport. (There is also a fuel station at Apollo IV-F, selling both refined and unrefined fuel.)
Omphalos Naval Base is the headquarters of the Delphi Union Navy . Omphalos also has a Class J civilian spaceport.
