The frozen seabeds under the ice of Caspar are a rich source of minerals and metals, concentrated by ice-coral near undersea volcanic vents. Surface facilities are built directly on the ice, or else tunneled into it; plasma guns and fusion heat tubes keep passageways open down through the ice for submarine crawlers to harvest the ice-coral.
