Siwan Station is a distributed station of some considerable size - the actual size varies because of the number of small craft that are docked at one time can add 50,000dTons (or so) to the total. The core of the station is made up of an Industrial Module and a major boat-yard supplying belters new and second hand needs, an entertainments district and many warehouse and commercial modules. It has one of the belts major institutes of learning: The Siwan Technical.
The population of Siwan Station varies between 32,000 and 110,000 with the university term and annual trade fairs bringing the number of residents to its peak.
Military[edit]
Siwan Station maintains a force known as the Siwan Space Guard. This includes 6 squadrons of warships and almost double that of significant armed merchants plus the equivalent of two battalions of troops, including the elite Siwan Special Boarding Force.
It should be noted that the number of people serving in the Military is larger that the population of the station itself. This is because Siwan Station maintains a presence on many asteroids throughout the belt and the combined population and tax income of these allied settlements is what funds and mans the Guard.
Economy[edit]
Siwan Station is one of the bigger yards that is undertaking work to convert the belters fleet of small boats from reaction to grav-based thrust.
It is the place where Kerala PLC was founded.
Even though many of the Siwan Space Guard are recruited from asteroids allied to Siwan Station, nearly 12% of Siwan's population are involved in that organisation directly.
