The organisation that commanded the interstellar fleet that set off from Sol for Alpha Centauri and settled New Earth by accident.
History[edit]
The fleet initially comprised ten vessels:

Of these, only five arrived at New Earth - the fate of the remainder is unknown.
The Fleet was the Unified Government of New Earth until the Defection of the Captains in year 8.
Much of the blame for the unexpected delivery of the colony to New Earth is directed at Space Electronics PLC, who supplied the computer systems to The Fleet. It was only much later that academics questioned the involvement of the Fleet Captains in the selection and oversight process that placed this company in that monopoly position.
