Description

Union Lines moves about 160 million containers per year (of a system-wide market of 252 million) - dominating long-distance routes between Poseidon, New Earth and the Belt with its large and cost efficient container ships.

Headquarters

Union was decommissioned in orbit about Ares (in Year 100) and became the headquarters for Union Lines.

Port Facilities

Union Lines maintains exclusive facilities for loading and storage in orbit above all the Campaign:NHNE/Worlds of the New Earth System, and maintains surface (or sub-sea) facilities in each major city.

Shipbuilding

Shipbuilding is a role that Union Lines has outsourced to a number of other corporations as well as running its own yards in orbit about Ares (Minor but prestigious), New Earth and in the Belt.

History

Union Lines is an outgrowth of the settlement of the belt during the Defection of the Captains in Year 8.

For the first 100 years of the system's history, The Fleet had a monopoly on inter-planetary transport.Union Lines was an outgrowth of the breaking of that monopoly.
