Andalia is a water world with 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it dangerous to visitors. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Dunmag Subsector of Deneb Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Andalia, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.

Atmosphere

Andalia's amber zone is in part due to the near total disappearance of oxygen from the world's atmosphere during winter and spring in the temperate and polar latitudes. Filter masks will not work in this atmosphere, only respirators during the high O2 season, and PLSS during the low season.

Native Lifeforms

The world is less than a billion years old, and its only life is anaerobic microorganisms and primitive photosynthesizers.

History & Background (Dossier)

The system has been issued an Amber Zone travel advisory for some of the wilderness areas, which are still infested with biological hazards.

In the early 600s the Humbolts engaged in biowarfare against Andalia, which harbored an Atsah base at the time. The agents tainted the atmosphere and destroyed the limited agricultural land. The population today hunts the maladig, an imported food beast, for export to luxury markets.

Starport

Andalia's downport is located on the planet's small moon, Iskanderia, as the world itself has no significant land surface for the construction of anything beyond simple landing pads.

Economy

Most of the population works in deep water mining sites, mining metals or the surprisingly rich gemstone beds for export to Inar Subsector or Vincennes Subsectors. Emeralds and sapphires are the richest of the world's exports, and the mines that produce them are closely guarded by their owners.
