Native Lifeform: Lethal Predator

A starport was built, but it was abandoned two years later when the colony was overrun by a species of lethal predators that dwell in the deep jungle.

This holding of the Strend Cluster has been issued a Red Zone travel advisory.

Allemagne was settled some years after the initial landing on Strend, with fifty thousand colonists moving here over the course of a five-year colonisation effort. The resource-rich jungle world was initially attractive, and the colonists built a starport city, named Burgundy. Unfortunately, the initial survey of Allemagne was incomplete. In 865, previously unknown native life overwhelmed the Strend defences, devouring the population. Only a handful of ships escaped, carrying tales of two-metre tall lizard-like humanoids with a natural camouflage ability and enough intelligence or mimicry to use guns.

The Strend have returned to Allemagne a dozen times since the initial catastrophe, but no troops sent into the jungle have ever returned.
