The 8th Regency Marine Line Regiment was a Regiment sized unit of the Regency and was part of the Regency Marines.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The 8th Regency Marine Line Regiment was a fully equipped line Regiment of the Regency Marines formed in 1132 for the 88th Fleet. Despite considerable pressure, it did not deploy until 1134.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The 8th Regency Marine Line Regiment was created from scratch in 1132 for the 88th Fleet. The unit was formed from Imperial Marines Officers drawn from convalescent units or battalions no longer strong enough to stand in the line. Recruitment was initially in Regina and Lanth Subsectors and some troops were diverted from newly recruited replacements originally intended for other units with a leavening of experienced NCOs promoted into the Regiment from elsewhere. Despite this ad-hoc beginning, the unit managed 18 months of intense training before being deployed - when it immediately gained a reputation for being impetuous but soon settled down as a steady and effective unit.
It's attachment to the 88th Fleet ensured that it was regularly deployed.
