TBD is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Zowie Subsector of Zowie Sector.

Sizapooma is an old midsize world at the rimward edge of the Mowbrey Gap. Most of the planet's atmosphere and hydrosphere have leaked away, and the world has few resources of any worth. First discovered by the Zhodani during their explorations of Foreven, the world's opportune location made it a common stopover for their exploration and trading expeditions.

A naval way station was constructed here about -650 in order to support deep sweeps by the Zhodani navy and its auxiliaries. After the Third Imperium began to expand into the adjacent Spinward Marches, the way station slowly expanded into a forward staging area for Zhodani diplomats and Tozjabr agents. As tensions escalated, a full navy base was constructed in the 540s. The base was instrumental in the settlement of the Chodlot region, acting as a midpoint between the various Zhodani colonies in Titan and Xenough subsectors, and the Consulate proper. The agreement that permitted settlement of Foreven by other Imperial culture humans was negotiated here, and a mixed population of Zhodani and Solomani settled around the base to expand commercial ties with the nascent Avalar Consulate.

The world's main employers in the antebellum period were trading firms moving commerce between the two Consulates. The break between the two states in the 1150s caused a severe economic downturn that still rankles the locals. The world has had to develop alternate industries to survive, and with Zhodani assistance it had positioned itself as an offshore banking center. While the flow of money into the borderlands of the Consulate has been modest at best, some measure of prosperity had been restored to the world. Just prior to the Zhodani Exodus, its starport was in the beginnings of an upgrade into an A-class facility for the growing trade between high population worlds in neighboring Mowbrey subsector and the Regency.

The Exodus caught the local planetary government and the Zhodani garrison completely off guard. A wave of eighty thousand refugees arrived in a two month period, overwhelming local relief efforts. On 191-1201, an unknown assailant or ship bombed the Zhodani naval base with a low yield tactical nuclear weapon, virtually destroying it and about a dozen Zhodani navy ships that were grounded there. The local government disintegrated from the shock, and a wave of anarchy and looting descended upon the main settlements. Fortunately, the Zhodani 818th Lift Infantry Brigade had arrived just a month prior to aid in relief efforts, and most of its personnel and equipment were a safe distance from the base when it was destroyed.

The brigade commander quickly moved to secure the starport and the planet's still intact planetary defense network. Currently the brigade controls the starport and the adjacent community, and is trying to collect and reorganize local police and military assets. A number of government officials have reappeared, and are working with military officers to slowly restore order to the world. That may prove somewhat difficult, however. The rest of the planet is a shambles, and a number of marauder groups have seized less defended settlements for their own purposes.

Even more ominous is the deportment of relieving 10th Fleet elements sent from Anika Subsector (Foreven F); the worsening relations between them and the Provincial Naval Command has loosened their discipline and restraint, and resources that could help restore order to the system are being squandered in escalating aggressiveness towards the nearby Avalar Consulate. A number of 10th Fleet units are currently in orbit around the world, but they are hindering relief efforts through their harassment of Non-Zhodani crews and relief workers, and active undermining of the 818th's position by withholding vitally needed supplies. The Amber Zone rating was specifically requested by local merchants and the Regency military in light of the deteriorating situation.
