Background

Limited by the number of shipyards capable of installing jump drives, the Sword World naval architects are forced to use Large Battle Tenders, to collect and transport all the SDBs, fighters, and large variety of battle riders the rest of the planets are capable of building and contributing for joint offensive operations on behalf of the Sword World's Confederate Fleet Command.

The current fleet is rebuilding after several defeats at the hands of technologically superior imperial forces, including the 100th Fleet which drove it off Lanth on 096-1109 and out of the subsector by 211-1109. In general sword world designers known they will face superior technology and sacrifices must be made to create designs that are extremely durable. Their stoic nature leads them to carry redundant systems, they love it when their ships can withstand brutal punishment and keep fighting. The lack of advanced computers limits their size. Some components made on Sacnoth, which also provides the most advanced Battle Riders, allow for larger ships. The current fleet strength is listed below and includes a variety of classes, in each category. The fleet is organized into several squadrons usually deployed one for each member world's naval base.

  • 19 Large Battle Tenders w/various Battle Riders attached, one Tender was built for each of the original member planets.
  • 22 Cruisers, several are large, locally referred to as dreadnoughts, but since they are 100,000 tons or less they are considered cruisers by imperial standards
  • 50 Destroyers
  • 30 Frigates
  • 14 Bulk Ordinance Carriers
  • 35 Assault Carriers, troop transports
  • 44 Logistical Auxiliaries
  • 114 Close Escorts and Patrol Corvettes
  • 20 Couriers
  • 88 Scouts
