To have been appointed, he must have been acceptable to the Duke of Regina - And to have worked effectively on Efate he must have been acceptable to the Duchess of Efate. That makes him something of a politician
As the successful commander of the siege, he would have (presumably) been awarded some form of Imperial honour. Options include:
- Promotion to Sector Marshal - Politically tricky as that was in the control of the Duchess of Mora
- MCUF - The army option
- If not a Baron previously, he must have been made a Baron on becoming Vice Marshal
