Description

These greyhounds of the fleet can carry a platoon of royal marines. They have enough cargo space for lengthy patrols without resupply. There main offensive punch is a particle accelerator bay for terrorizing vacuum worlds and asteroid bases and a heavy missile bay capable of handling nuclear ordinance. The poor armor plating on the cylindrical hull and mediocre agility limit the design's ability to absorb punishment. Capable of skimming and refining its own fuel away from fleet refueling bases and without tanker assistance allows it to operate independently for a while.

History

The balance of capabilities and limitations make this ship an exacting laboratory for training young command and line officers. Glorious service aboard a beast like this is a great path for promotion to the more exciting heavy frigates of the fleet. Several flag officers have made their names on the bridge of these ships.
