Shadow Rifts

Shadow Rifts are any area of space with a generally low stellar density, though not as sparse as a true rift.

Description / Specifications

Shadow rifts present an impassable barrier to conventional J1 and J2 vessels, although long-range vessels, X-range ships, or vessels with appropriate support (such as tankers) may be able to cross them.

History & Background / Dossier

Shadow Rifts occur throughout the Barren Worlds, becoming more frequent the closer one is to the Great Void. Perhaps the best known example within the Distant Fringe are the Moat Rifts. Other larger shadow rifts can be found to coreward and trailing.
