Mission
The mission of Shionthy Protection Incorporated is space based military direct action. SPI has a provisional license to conduct private military operations as a mercenary company with the standard caveats regarding utilization of WMDs and fighting against forces of the Imperium.
Description
Commodore Dhoerr Knurroe commands a small mercenary Naval force. Major Garek serves as second in command with Captain Marc Tukera as his third officer and aide de camp. Combat hulls for the company consist of whatever is on hand. Knurroe is a former naval fighter ace who can handle anything from a 6 ton stub fighter up to medium size starships with aplomb. Knurroe prefers to hire specialists such as Navy and Scouts for ship assignments and combat hardened marines for boarding actions.
The most apparent patron for SPI is Arcon Lines with occasional work for Oberlindes Lines for anti-piracy operations.
SPI was last known to be operating in the Regina sub-sector in the classic era 1105.
History & Background
SPI is a thinly veiled cover created to have quasi-legal standing. The cause for this less than fully legal status is the fact that the Shionthy system is an interdicted Red Zone. The mayor of Socrates Station signed the contract with SPI for general anti-piracy patrols and direct action. The contact also gives SPI law enforcement powers and search and rescue operations.
Strategy & Doctrine
Generally SPI uses information provided from numerous sources such as belters who are prospecting asteroid digs throughout the area of Socrates and Socrates Station. SPI has seeded suspect areas with automated drones and then hone a strategy for an effective attack. The doctrine of SPI tends to be combined arms actions with armed ships and marine boarding parties.
Tables of Organization & Equipment
SPI is set up just like a regular naval command with naval and scout personnel who run the ships and marine personnel who handle boarding and ground action.
SPI have used Scouts, merchant vessels and a captured patrol cruiser. The SPI marine contingent utilizes laser rifles mining explosives and standard civilian vacc suits.
