Lightning class Frontier Cruiser

The Azhanti High Lightning class was the result of an Imperial requirement for a new, heavily armed, highly mobile, fleet intruder. The class proved especially useful in the dosing days of the Solomani Rim War (990-1002). First laid down in 991, the Lightning enjoyed a long and distinguished career before finally being declared surplus in 1048.Allhough no longer fit for front line duty some, Lightnings continued to serve the navy, and others were transferred to the Scout Service, sold to commercial concerns or modified. Between 1078 and 1090, 28 fleet intruders were modernized and refurbished as frontier cruisers.
