Caithness (World) Synopsis

Caithness is a pre-agricultural, moderate population rich garden world with over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts.

• Garden worlds are known for their near-ideal utopian environments conducive to most sophonts, plants, animals, and other forms of life.
• It is a pre-agricultural world with an environment suitable for large scale agricultural and livestock industries that have not yet been widely developed.
• This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
• Its economy and population are rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to quickly rise barring outside forces.
• It is a member of the Principality of Caledon in the Scotian Deep Subsector of Reaver's Deep Sector.
• This world has a nearby Naval Base, usually associated with military starships.
• This world has a nearby Military Base, usually associated with ground forces.

Description

Caithness is a pleasant world with an atmosphere amenable to humans. It has been for centuries a key way station for traders, scouts - and buccaneers and the navy ships that pursue them.

Caithness is largely a "company planet" run by The Caithness Combine, a joint venture of several major Caledonian trading companies. The planet is governed by a bureaucracy administered under Caledonian law. While the planet itself has no elections for government, the population does vote for members to the Caledonian parliament.

Caithness has two stars in the star system.

History & Background (Dossier)

The system was largely a vassal of various Reaver clans, mostly operating as proxies of the Khan World League, until liberated by the Caleonian Navy after the Reaver War in 373.

Today, Caithness is home to a scout and major navy base, it's a vital hub for trade to spinward. Given the proximity of the Reaver-dominated Khan World League, it's also an assembly point for convoys shipping out to spinward.
