5414AD–5435AD. Part of the Mid War period of the Scybrian Wars.

Description / Specifications

The PLF was in fact covertly funded and supported by the Scybrian Polyarchy. When the full scale of Scybrian involvement became apparent it caused a wave of public outrage throughout the Firstworlds and directly escalated the First Rissa War. The conflict ended at the same time as the First Rissa War, following protracted negotiations that involved the general withdrawal of the Firstworlds' armed forces and the disbanding of the PLF.

History & Background / Dossier

The conflict started during the Long Peace (5390AD–5423AD) when the Firstworlds began to impose additional tariffs on commodities crossing its borders in order to increase its military budget. Almost immediately Mantlerist groups began large-scale protests – the new taxes would hit the poorest the hardest. The Firstworlds, always with strong anti-Mantlerist leanings, responded in a heavy-handed manner, breaking up demonstrations, making many arrests and imposing martial law in some areas.

The situation rapidly escalated. A guerrilla force, The People's Liberation Front, sprang up to protect the rights of citizens. Within months acts of terrorism were perpetrated, territories and even whole worlds were seized, police actions were fought, and atrocities were committed. The PLF grew in strength and audacity and the conflict dragged on, becoming steadily more bloody.
