Ushmegili has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Pact Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Ushmegili, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel.

Astrography and planetology

This large water world shares many features with Thalassa (Dagudashaag 2127). Lack of available land has restricted the expansion of the starport. The climate of the planet is unkind to human habitation (average temperature is approximately -37°C, with the equatorial regions a rather pleasant 20-22°C during the ‘summer’) despite the ideal atmosphere.

Ushmegili has a solitary primary star.

History and background

The resident population is composed of scientists from the Imperial University of Medurma planetary physics department and the IISS undertaking a joint investigation into the ‘Ushmegli Rings’. These rings are circular depressions in the seabed which have a varying number of concentric, evenly-spaced ridges emanating from the centre of these crater-like depressions. Their age, origin and purpose (if any) remain a mystery.
