The Square Manta is an exothermic insectvore with a long, sticky tongue. Found during a survey of Rann (Solomani Rim 3106), these creatures were adapted as a form of natural insect repellant. Their chitin is a blue-gray appearance, with a few rare specimens a bright green-gray.
The locals use the Square Manta as a form of insect repellant by punching holes in the chitin and hanging them by rope to their bodies. The outer skin is tough enough to act as armor against primitive weapons. And the still living square manta consumes the insects that approach the wearer. In the wild, square mantas tend to float just under the surface of a pond or slow moving river, and snare bugs on he surface of the water.
