A Marine Task Force is a Detachment from a Marine Regiment, an ad hoc grouping of several Marine Companies and/or other specialist sub-units drawn from the Regiment and tailored for a particular mission objective. It is generally commanded by a Marine Force Commander.

A Marine Task Force is an ad hoc sub-unit of a Marine Regiment (i.e. a "Detachment"), a grouping of several Marine Companies and/or other specialist sub-units drawn from the Regiment and tailored for a specific mission or task objective. It is generally commanded by a Marine Force Commander.
