The Black Ships are a mysterious deep space phenomenon, a tale of a strange, hostile vacumorphic lifeform that attacks starships deep in the void.
- It is rumored that there are entire fleets of back ships, which are logically called Black Fleets.
- This is one of three disasters that rocked the Third Imperium: The Break, The Wave, and the The Black Ships.

Old spacers have been telling strange tales for millennia, the Old Spacer's Tale of questionable verity. The Black Ships are widely considered such a tale.
