- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a mainworld which is a satellite of either a gas giant or another world.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Zeda Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector in the Domain of Vland.
- During the Long Night this world was named Khergas.
Astrography and planetology
Guan is primarily a support base and R&R facility for the huge company refining rigs which float in the upper atmosphere of the tiny gas giant Loirhed, of which Guan is a satellite.
History and background
Guan is owned by Tarameck, a major hydrocarbon refining and processing corporation. Rig life is tough and Guan port is accordingly rough. Riggers tend to live on their nerves while working above the broiling clouds of Loirhed and then let off steam at Guan watching or taking part in games involving contests of strength, endurance, and martial arts. Other leisure facilities include casinos (the Riggers are well paid), brothels, and bars. A small section of the port is off limits to the Riggers to keep the more sensitive visitors away from their extremes.
