On the planet Montero (world), with the assistance of several corporate and noble investors, a small security squadron was built with local resources. The system navy deploys 5,950 tons of shipping, the Monterian Planetary Navy is primarily concerned with trade security and convoy escort duty. They operate directly from the starport and have no facilities of their own.
(11) Patrol Cutters One squadron of these is permanently assigned to the starport. They conduct search and rescue operations and render emergency assistance to ships in distress within 100 diameters. They are fast (6Gs) but not agile. They carry a powerful model 5 computer on the bridge which is capable of accurate targeting and tracking tasks. There is a single fusion cannon mounted for point defense. Two specialists are carried for rescue missions and boarding actions. They wear combat armor and carry Gauss weapons.

(4) Monterian Scouts These jump 3 vessels patrol and escort convoys from neighboring worlds and act as fleet couriers for orders issued to task forces. They carry a model 4 fib computer on the bridge. They have 3 Gs acceleration and no agility. The pilot and gunner have separate staterooms for comfort on long patrols, which also makes passengers possible. There is a small 3 ton cargo bay. The hull is streamlined for ocean refueling with scoops and a fuel refinery. They are armed with a single pulse laser for defense.
