During the Long Night this world was named Iirkhuuash.
Gabradio had the luck that their primary virus infection was a modern Puppeteer called Ishnahin, who decided that the meat was valuable, at least those who served him. Major revolts in 1134 and 1136 killed only about 80% and 70% of the population.
When contacted by the Empire of the Last Sane in 1141, he was restrained with a parent type. The internal war was expensive, but not as expensive in terms of life as the two revolts. Gabradio has now a stable participating democracy, and could be counted as part of the backbone of the FDR.
About 300,000 humans and 200,000 awaken inhabit Gabradios city. A set of pressure domes, most of them abandoned, were salvaged long ago. The natural flora is limited to algae and sulphate bacteria because of the trace pressure. So some of the former domes are now used for hydroponics. The hydroponics project is perhaps the only good thing to say about Ishnahin, as it saved the life of "his" population. Gabradio's industry is far from being sustainable and depends mainly on Imaparlu. Gabradio's former main export, robots, are now impossible to sell, as selling robots counts as slavery. So they are now trying a variety of minor technical novelties. None have been a major success for long so far. Even the starport, officially high standard with class C support for dynamic and class A support for holographic vessels, is not as frequented as expected.
The local government has recently launched a subsidy program, with the main constraint that ships have to take the Imaparlu-Gabradio-Abir route 4 times a year.
Zowie is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Rure Subsector of Gushemege Sector in the Domain of Vland.
