Kuuranse is a moderate population world with a population size of over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts. This world is designated an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Remnants Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Kuuranse, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdom of a viscount. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. During the Long Night this world was named Apkam Uurgi.
Astrography and Planetology
Kuuranse is a member of the Dagudashaag Main.
Stellar Data
History and Background
Kuuranse is famed as a successful low to mid tech colony, and its hard-lined environmental stance. Its authoritarian attitude in pursuit of eco-friendly policy has disturbed many outsiders but the government, under the guidance of Gen'ndar Kuulak, remains in favor with the populace.
As the population has grown the environmental laws have become more draconian. There are severe penalties for even the most (apparently to off-worlders) trivial offenses which would threaten the environmental balance. Residents and visitors are liable for high service and utility taxes. These include water and air purification system and various recycling operations, crucial to the survival of the enclosed cities.
There are a number of inhabitants of Kuuranse who have abandoned the cities for the 'Outlands'. More recently the numbers living on the outside have increased, as exile for persistent or serious offenders is becoming more common. Many of these exiles have banded together for survival, building small towns and communities. A worrying trend for the government is the Outlanders are taking to raiding each other to obtain basic necessities. The government is now constantly advertising for bounty hunters to sign up for a "Tour of the Outlands" to help curb the threats.
World Starport (St)
Kuuranse has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
