Uknonueng (world)/secret
A Secret Report to the Dzagok Casts
Do not share with UOSA Privateers
At 153-1115 an undocumented report was discovered in the hardcopy archives of the Dzagok Library data. The report was filed anonymously. The report is not found in the planetary online database and network Library. There is no timestamp on the hardcopy report. As such, it is not known who wrote the report, who filed the report in the archive and who failed to transcribe the content to the network Library. It is likely that the clone who wrote the report, (indicated by the technical terminology, wording, statistics and computations), has been reclaimed and recycled into the Casts personality stores, but without iteration number or a timeframe, identification seems unlikely. Since the report mentions Uknonueng (Knoellighz 2240) X78A576-1 Ni Wa / Lt, it can be assumed that the report was submitted after the initial survey of the planet by our planetologists transported to Uknonueng by the UOSA Privateers and their controlling Syndicate. Sometime after the survey and contact with the local primitive Gvegh seafarers on Uknonueng, one of our scientists made a discreet discovery that has failed somehow to become filed in the network Library data.
Thesis: A secret has become buried in the Dzagok hardcopy archives which hold ramifications for the 800,000 or so primitives of Uknonueng. The report speaks of an encounter between a survey planetologist and a free diver local who displayed a small but unmistakable, natural zuchai crystal. The young male, when asked, told the surveyor clone from Dzagok that he had found it at the bottom of the sea bed before the “great fault abyss”. There are only two such abyssal sea trenches on Uknonueng and both are due to tectonic plate subduction which builds undersea mounts and ridges. If the find is verified, the population of that world can profit from the zuchai crystals if they are careful not to expose where the crystals originate. With such a line of credit the Bronze Age Uknonuengi can rise up out of Tech Level 1 and possibly join the interstellar community of the Ascendancy Pact at last despite the polity passing over the world long ago during their expansion into Knoellighz Sector. However, should the UOSA Privateer Syndicate learn of the node being slowly sub-ducted and thus destroyed in crustal melt; they will usurp the find and marginalize the locals from what would rightfully be their resource. The USP has already authorized significant ecological damage to other nearby worlds such as Tasoloe (Knoellighz 2435).
Complications with the UOSA Privateer Syndicate arise as there is a known Base of Operations afloat on the Water world’s surface. Though the Privateers do trade tech-appropriate items in return for needs on UOSA and our world of Dzagok, the Privateers would dearly love to harvest such a valuable resource if they knew of the deposit. The USP purposefully keeps the Uknonuengi ignorant and at their current Tech Level and exploiting the yields of the people.
It is recommended that the Casts send out a clandestine request for undersea planetary survey to confirm the presence of the natural zuchai crystal deposit, measure its dimensions and time before sub-duction down into the abyss and returned to crustal melt. Such a covert survey must be undertaken by those who agree to funnel any monetary developments of the deposit to the people of Uknonueng without alerting the USP. The economy must also be considered and a gradual trust set up for the primitives to use at need especially if they later choose to join the interstellar community. Utmost confidence must be preserved to keep USP from learning of Dzagok foreknowledge of this report resource notwithstanding. A contracted survey scout team must understand that the UOSA Privateer Syndicate will do anything to maintain their status quo and may take violent means to keep their secrets. Such a team will need to equip appropriately for underwater operations, stealth and regrettably for confrontation from the local surface Base on Uknonueng.
Similarly, care must be taken not to irritate the subsector economy since the UOSA Privateer Syndicate is possessive of both its worlds and the price wars they fight can be fierce and paralegal. Additionally, the Pact of Gaerr in Gvurrdon Sector is just as at risk to a boom in zuchai crystals smuggled out of the Ascendancy Pact, an act which might attract the attention of the Admiralty if the USP does not intervene. All of these factors must be taken into account when performing the suggested mission to Uknonueng. A Universal World Profile is available online, although care must be taken when downloading anything publicly in the subsector concerning the worlds under the watch of the UOSA Privateer Syndicate.
