The concept of the wave has undergone several reincarnations during the development of the various eras.
Initial Concept[edit]
This was an EM effect travelling at the speed of light with a psionic component. [1]
This concept, however, meant that the wave would have been too close to the Imperium not to have been a well-known issue in the Golden Age
Updated Concept[edit]
This is a psionic effect travelling at almost one parsec per year. Its effects are primarily psionic, with some EM side-effects, and lasting about 1 month.[2]
This becomes a catastrophic wave, directly and indirectly causing the deaths of about 50% of sophonts over a 10 year period.
