The AotI annotation notes "The term implies a strong transparent material."
I imagine that this is material like wikipedia:diamond, wikipedia:corundum, or Crystaliron. A class of materials falling into the single large crystalline form, created to spec at the manufacturing facility, optimized for strength and durability. So that's what I went with.
