GURPS Traveller: Interstellar Wars is very explicit the Nugiiri are Droyne. Does Mongoose Traveller: Trillion Credit Squadron have a different creature named Nugiiri, or are they also Dyrone? The Trillion Credit Squadron which you cited calls them "Batwings", and never mentions the word "Nugiiri".
Right. But, what are the differences?

- The ESA expeditions were launched in 2050AD, about 50 years before first contact with Vilani (2097 AD). So the colonists would not have know about the Nugiiri, nor even the Vilani term for them.
- Every source about the makes it quite explicit that there was no general knowledge the different Droyne colonies are actually the same race. And this doesn't become known until sometime in the Third Imperium.
- Finally there is no "divergently evolve". It is one of the enduring mysteries of the Droyne that, despite there being several hundred completely isolated populations, there is no genetic, cultural, or linguistic drift from any of them. For apparently hundreds of thousands of year.

There is always room in the story for further development.
- Where do you pull the no genetic divergence? What's your source? I trust and beleive you, but am still asking.
- I remember that plot point, but I can't recall it going as strictly as you are advocating.
- I tend to think of that "remarkable uniformity" as a psionic effect, but the Chirpers are a pretty good sign that things can go wrong. Plus, we already have several Droyne subraces, some of them canon from Mongoose or other publishers. It's already fair accompli.

- The history of the Droyne is irrelevant to this discussion. The term "Nugiiri" is specific to the Vilani during the Interstellar Wars period, and never used on Esperanza. So I want to revert this article back to its original state. If you want to add a new Droyne race, use Batwings. Or create another one somewhere else.
