Talk:Ahriman Sector
Where does the name "Eose'o" originate? The one canonical reference to this sector (-2/-6) I can find is in GURPS Traveller: Alien Races 2, under the entry for the Inyx, and there it is called Ahriman.
Curious why Eose'o is preferred, and wondering if there is another source out there that I'm missing.
- This list from 1996 lists Eose'o as the primary name, as generated by the HIWG people, but no name attached. The same applies to the other sectors in the area. I'm assuming the older (though less canonical) name takes precedence. I'm not sure where the Ahriman name comes from (other than AR2). Tjoneslo (talk) 21:22, 14 November 2013 (EST)
- Nice -- I've never seen that list before. Garnfellow (talk) 05:18, 15 November 2013 (EST)
While those are still the only two sources, Traveller Map has settled on the published name as primary, and the wiki has now followed that lead.
The Inyx, the race in AR2 that led to the Ahriman name for the sector, has contradictory location information.
- Page 139: "The Inyx directly control Matrix (their homeworld) and some 17 systems in Ahriman sector (one sector Rimward of Iyiyukhtoi’/Banners)..."
- Page 140: "Matrix, the Inyx homeworld, is the third planet of a G7 V star. It is located on the edge of Hierate and Solomani space, two sectors Rimward of Dark Nebula."
Current development on Traveller Map has not resolved this, but discussion on the Inyx page suggests Ahriman Sector is where they actually are (or will be) located. --GypsyComet (talk) 11:21, 10 May 2021 (EDT)
