The antebellum Amber Zone on Talchek was actually intended to discourage visitors who might stumble across a top secret Imperial installation on the planet. For, as in the case of Wypoc (Spinward Marches 2011), Talchek was the site of an Imperial biological weapons laboratory. After the Collapse, the Regency shut down the facility.
