The star Sigma Draconis (otherwise known as Alsafi) is a yellow-orange main sequence star of spectral type G9-K0.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

While Sigma Draconis has an 11th Magnitude companion as seen from the vantage point of the Sol system, its proper motion is different than that of Sigma Draconis, indicating that it is merely a nearby star, and not part of a gravitationally bound binary system.

  • The inner edge of Sigma Draconis's habitable zone is located at ~0.557AU, while the outer edge edge lies at ~1.016AU.
  • The distance from Sigma Draconis where a Terra-norm world could exist with liquid water is centered at ~0.65AU. A planet at this distance would have an orbital period under 203 days.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Sigma Draconis star system lies approximately 5.8pc from Terra, and is located in a Corespinward/Spinward direction from Terra at bearing 101.3o Galactic Longitude and +21.9o North Galactic Latitude.
