The Office of Chronology & Temporal Periodization was created within the Imperial Bureaucracy to join together the functions of the Office of Calendar Compliance and the Office of Interstellar Timekeeping after the dissolution of the Office of Standards.

In practice, the office receives a budget, but the entire administration is actually undertaken by the Office of Calendar Compliance, the chief of which is also the Chief of the Office of Chronology & Temporal Periodization. As a consequence, the entire separate budget for the Office of Chronology & Temporal Periodization is actually the salary of the office's chief!

An imperial Ministry of Justice investigation resulted in confirmation that it was the right of the Emperor to reward his Officers as he pleased.
