Hamish James Andrews was the eldest son of Laurence III and Princess Abigail (Baroness Whidby).
He attended the Royal Caledonian Naval Academy, finishing 2nd in a class of 392. He commanded the destoyer HMCS Gardiner in the Reaver War, and resigned his commission in 373 to join his father's privy council.
His arranged marriage - to Eileen Searle - was a key factor in Clan Andrews attaining the throne; he succeeded his father in 386.
His reign was marked by an initially troubled but ultimately effective expansion of colonization on Cuillin and Caithness.
However, though he and Princess Eileen had six daughters, there were no male offspring when Hamish died of a sudden illness in 395.
