Glimmerdrift Security Battalion
Deployed within the Glimmerdrift Federation, these internal security battalions consist of three grav mobile infantry companies, one grav tank company, and a headquarters and headquarters company. The infantry companies consist of a scout/recon platoon, a heavy weapons platoon, a lift rifle platoon, and a headquarters, service and operations platoon. The company is commanded by a major, with a captain as executive officer, and a senior first sergeant. Each platoon was commanded by a captain with a lieutenant as assistant platoon commander/section leader and a sergeant first class as platoon sergeant.
The grav tank company has (10) grav tanks and 30 crew assigned.
The three grav mobile infantry companies each have 5 Air Rafts, 5 Gunships and 8 G Carriers with 80 crew and 45 troopers.
The scout/recon platoon consists (5) Air Rafts with a total of 20 crew, nominally divided into two sections and the platoon leader's vehicle.
The heavy weapons platoon consists of (5) close support gunships, with a total of 15 crew. They are divided into two sections and the platoon commander's gunship. The gunships operated in teams of two or, more often, operate with the scouts as a hunter killer team. The gunships can provide direct and indirect fire support.
The lift rifle platoon consists of 15 crew and 45 troopers. There is a "lift section" of (5) G Carriers with 3 crew each and a "rifle section" of (5) nine-man light infantry squads led by an infantry lieutenant. The G Carriers transport the rifle squads to insert and extract them as they perform ground reconnaissance, manned observation/listening posts, or provide ground security as needed. A team of "lift" G Carriers (as many as needed to carry the number of infantry for the mission, but usually at least two for one squad plus weapons, ammunition, water, rations, and equipment) is almost always led by at least one scout and escorted by at least one gunship.
The service platoon consists of 30 crew with a platoon headquarters, a maintenance section and a supply section. Each section is assigned a G Carrier to support its function but in practice both of these carriers (as well as the company commander's, nominally assigned to the company headquarters) are controlled by the lift rifle platoon's lift section and were rotated into the mix of available vehicles as maintenance and mission requirements dictated. As per Glimmerdrift Army doctrine, the crew chiefs (enlisted maintenance technicians) are assigned to the lift platoons and perform the daily servicing and basic maintenance on the carriers, the maintenance section is responsible for the more extensive maintenance and required periodic inspections. The supply section is responsible for individual and organizational supply support and supervise the servicing (fuel, weapons, and ammunition), as well as coordinated any attached dining facility (field messing) and or field medical services.
The battalion's HHC has a maintenance section, mess platoon, medical platoon, supply platoon and combat support platoon.
