Garbage Desiccator

A part of the design of some ships, the Garbage Desiccator consists of a large rotating drum on the exterior hull of the ship. Waste of different kinds is loaded into the drum as intervals, and then rotated to expose the contents to the vacuum of space. This causes the water and other volatiles to boil off, leaving the dried remains behind. These remains are then compressed and stored until they can be disposed of.

Generally seen as an efficient, if wasteful, way of dealing with waste on a starships and orbital space stations.
